Dutch organist Steven Knieriem is only 18 years old, but has already gained a place in the young generation of organists in the Netherlands. He was born in 2001 in the province of Zeeland (Netherlands). At the age of 9 he started with organ lessons at a regional music school in his hometown. Currently, he is studying organ at Codarts conservatory in Rotterdam with Ben van Oosten.
A prize winner of several competitions, he was rewarded with the second prize at the first national Ambitus Organ Competition in the Grote of St. Bavokerk in Haarlem (The Netherlands) in 2017, the second prize at the 2018 international organ competition 'Orgues à Douai' in the Collégiale Saint Pierre de Douai (France) and the second prize at the 2019 national Ambitus Organ Competition in the Laurenskerk in Rotterdam (The Netherlands).
Steven is regularly invited to give solo recitals and concerts in collaboration with others, both at home and abroad. He has given performances in important organ series, so he has come to well-known places with famous organs in The Netherlands, France, Germany and Italy. His organ repertoire includes all style periods. As a starting composer, Steven has written works for organ.
Steven Knieriem currently serves as one of the organists of the Flentrop organ in the Sion Church in Goes. At this place he has been playing during the services since 2017.
